06. Steel Sheet Hub/ スチールシート・ハブ

Project Breif:
This project is to challenge and explore whether a steel sheet could become a structural component and provide an inhabitable space at the same time. Initially, the project inherits the characteristics of continuity from previous research, in which all of the structures are implemented with a single stroke of the steel sheets. The continued steel sheet’s strength is created by simply bunching and compressing the steel sheets into performative columns. This type of structure disperses stress evenly throughout their entire cross-section and it resists the compression loads. Also, the concrete as a support material is cast along the surface to stabilize the steel sheets in different moments which developed the rigidity and fixity
of the steel sheet structure.

Honoring its flexibility and transformability of the steel sheets, compressing and pealing the surface as a way to organize spaces and programmatic elements. The combination of steel sheet and concrete allows the opportunity for the steel sheets to become different kinds of architectural elements in multiple scales; a component to furniture to the interior to architecture. Steel sheets, seemingly fragile and weak. However, when it comes together it becomes strong. The project is the metaphor of the individuals and expecting an
innovation hub to become a place where all of the individuals gather and create new values.
